Sr. Pauline Casey was the driving force behind many of the transformative decisions that shaped our school over the years. Her strength, determination, and deep passion inspired countless staff members, setting a powerful example of leadership and integrity.
One of her most significant contributions was the visionary amalgamation of the Deaf school and the mainstream school in 1999. Sr. Pauline firmly believed that both communities had much to gain from one another, and her forward-thinking approach laid the foundation for the inclusive and unique environment we are so proud of today at St. Columba’s GNS with Facility for Deaf Children.
Sr. Pauline was one of the many ‘powerhouse’ women who formed the backbone of our school, but she stood out as a truly respected and valued leader. Her ability to champion ideas and communicate their importance with clarity and conviction was truly admirable. She always spoke her mind, stood up for what she believed in, and instilled these same values in her students.
Her presence was warm, engaging, and generous. Sr. Pauline gave her time and energy freely to those around her, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In a fitting tribute, a magnificent portrait of Sr. Pauline was created by past pupil John Doolan, a lasting symbol of her influence and the deep respect she inspired in the school community.
Her legacy continues to guide and inspire us.
